Introduction To The Veneto Region Of Italy
Sixty million travelers a year spent time in the
Veneto region of Italy with the busy cities of Venice and Verona
the main tourist attractions, which can become very crowed in
peak holiday times. If you like to explore new destinations that
offer more of that more peaceful local feel the Veneto region has
many. The main entry point to the Veneto if arriving by air is
Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), most international flights land
here. Other options include Treviso Airport (TSF) mainly low cost
european flights and Verona (VRN) which is growing in popularity
all the time with long haul flight operators Britsh Airways, Air
France And Alitalia offering international connections. The
Veneto is one of Italys most successful regions in economic terms
boasting modern shopping centres, with a large selection of
quality hotels and restaurants in most towns and cities. The
modern and reasonably priced rail and bus services will allow
most areas to be uncovered or if you enjoy driving, Car Hire will
provide extra freedom.

Mestre Is connected to Venice by the Ponte Della
Liberta road bridge and the Venice railway bridge, they run side
by side. Thousands of tourists stay in Mestre each year
especially around the Mestre Railway station where four star
hotels can cost a quarter of those on Venice island. Mestre
boasts many reasonably priced restaurants and bars which are very
popular once Venice shuts down at night. The Railway journey from
Mestre to Venice is only around fifteen minutes and on arrival at
Venice Santa Lucia railway station you will find the Grand Canal
and the Vaporetto boat pier just down the steps, a great sight
when seen for the first time. Hotel Plaza at Viale Stazione 36
Mestre and Best Western Hotel Bologna at Via Piave 214 Mestre are
both four star rated properties and are positioned a few steps
from Mestre railway station.

Treviso Airport (TSF) Situated Around 20 miles
from central Venice, Treviso Airport is used by Ryanair and other
low cost flight operators including German Wings. The awaiting
ATVO Eurobus connects to mainland Mestre and Piazzale Roma Venice
and takes about 70 Minutes. The other low cost alternative is the
ACTT bus line 6 to Treviso city centre or Treviso Centrale
Railway Station, you will find the stop just outside the

Venice Everyone should visit Venice at least once
in their lifetime just to experience the unique blend of history,
culture and charisma that this wonderful place has to offer. New
visitors to Venice are recommended to spend their first day
exploring the mysteries of the ever changing Grand Canal. Public
water buses or Vaporetto as they are known locally, stop at
landing piers positioned on both sides of Grand Canal where
visitors can hop off for a few minutes or spend longer at the
more interesting attractions like the Rialto Bridge and St Marks
Square. Venice Island boasts some of the most expensive hotels in
the world, especially the prestige 5 star rated establishments.
Hotel room rates in Venice vary drastically depending on seasonal
demand but can be particularly expensive around the Venice
Carnival in February, the International Film Festival held on the
Lido Island in August-September and the Regatta Storica first
Sunday in September. Looking for a Venice Hotel bargain? November
and early December are the least popular months to visit, but
this is the only time cheap hotels in Venice actually exist.

Venice Santa Lucia Railway Station Is positioned
in the Cannaregio sestiere at the top of the Grand Canal. The one
main advantage of staying in hotels within easy walking distance
of the station is that you will avoid the hassle of carrying and
pulling your luggage on and off the Vaporetto. The area around
the Santa Lucia railway station although busy is nothing like the
madness of the Piazza St Marco area in the height of the tourist
season. Board the Vaporetto water bus outside the station and the
lenght of the Grand Canal can easily be explored, including the
Rialto Bridge and surrounding daily market and souvenir shops.
The Cannaregio area around the Santa Lucia station is recommended
for first time visitors to Venice. There are many comfortable
hotels nearby including the Hotel
Principe at Lista Di Spagna 146 and the Hotel
Carlton on the Grand Canal at Sestiere Di Santa Croce
578.
